Flores Votes Against Ex-Im Bank Reauthorization

Statement

Date: Oct. 27, 2015
Location: Washington, DC
Issues: Taxes Trade

U.S. Representative Bill Flores (R-Texas) today voted against reviving the Export-Import Bank after its charter expired earlier this year. Congressman Flores released the following statement regarding his vote:

"The Export-Import Bank is the "Enron' of the federal government and the poster-child for Washington's corrupt bureaucracy. Its revival would force American taxpayers to once again suffer at the hands of federal mismanagement. In the last few years, former Ex-Im officials have been the subject of more than 90 criminal indictments and complaints, and have received decades in combined jail time. We should not be using taxpayer dollars to fund a corrupt organization that has proven itself impervious to reforms."
